While a small event, it was well attended by the public, including school groups which came out--on a weekend, no less--to see the encampment and learn about General Lafayette's presence in what would become Hawthorne. We thank the Passaic County Department of Parks for their help in letting us hold this event.
The Royal Sussex Society was the host unit for the Lafayette Day Encampment in Goffle Brook Park, Hawthorne, NJ. Rather than re-write the whole affair, though, you can check out this article which has photos and coverage of the event itself.
