In Memory of Pte. Paul Stephen "McShambles" Camina

Earlier this month, we learned that one of our own had passed away.  One of our old friends, an early member of the 35th who was with us during our start right up to what we've built together, was gone from a heart attack.  We were shocked, as a unit, to have heard of his sudden and unexpected passing and our hearts go out to all his family which survives him.  He leaves behind his wife Dee, his daughters Alana and Zoe, his parents, and all those whose lives he touched.  Paul was a character and a half, as anyone who knew him could attest.  He was the true Englishman in our unit, a good soul, and the ultimate malingering redcoat.

On June 25th, his family and friends hosted a memorial celebration for Paul and we were invited to attend in uniform.  He loved the 35th Regiment and we loved him.  We will miss his witty insights, his unique perspectives, his friendship, and all the laughter he brought.

Hot Time at Cold Spring

6/19/2017

Cold Spring Village's timeline was a little different this year.  It was extraordinarily humid, which made the restaurant and ice cream shop on site must-go destinations.  The groups present were also moved around a little bit.  The "Number Two Section" had gone for an Indian Mutiny display while the Royal Sussex represented the 1880s through the 1940s.  Other groups there were Union and Confederate Americans, a Connecticut Revolutionary War unit, a Civil War artillery battery, Persian Gulf, German U-Boat landing party display for WWII, and 1812.  We had some good crowds and a lot of public interaction on and off during the day.  We were hit briefly by a quick shower which did not abate the humidity, but no harm was done.  All in all, Cape May remains a favorite--not just for the timeline, but also for the chance to tour around the area, visit the beaches and boardwalks, and kick off the summer with good friends.
