Royal Sussex Regiment - Late Victorian 1880s
While Queen Victoria wielded relatively little political power in her own right, her influence and longevity lent her name to the bulk of the 19th Century. The "Victorian" era is one of the most fascinating and captivating periods in global history. Established in 2005, the Victorian branch is the second largest in the Society after the American Revolution.
The late Victorian section of the Society places a particular emphasis on recreating the Royal Sussex Regiment as it was during the 1882 Egyptian Campaign. As the hosts of what was the Grand Victorian Tactical, we also interpreted the Boer War of 1899-1902. The Civilian Committee is dedicated to interpreting the lives of the women of the time either as civilians or as women serving in the Army Nursing Service.
